Verify ownership of an FNB account number

The following is how to verify the owner of an FNB account;

  1. Go to the FNB account and log into your account
  2. Click on the arrow to the top right of the screen and scroll to Insight360
  3. Click on Reports Menu
  4. Now click on Verify Account Owner
  5. You can also verify FNB account ownership in the process of getting details for a recipient of payment. To do that, click on Recipients. Go to Maintain Folder and click on Add. Now choose Create recipient. You will see the option to Verify Account Owner under Recipient Details.

Which information is needed?

It’s important to verify that you are making payments to the correct person or business. We have already noted that there is a lot of fraud going on out there.

But what information is needed when making the verification process? What you need to have is the account number of the person or business that you wish to verify.

You also need to have their name as well as their ID. If it’s a business, you need their business name and registration number. That’s all information that they will be willing to provide to you if they are genuine.

How long does the verification process take?

If you wish to verify an FNB account owner for a single person or business, you won’t have to wait long to get the results. The verification process happens almost immediately.

However, if you wish to verify multiple numbers, you may have to wait for the results to come out. If you wish to verify multiple numbers, you can use a .CSV format to bulk import account information. You will be notified via SMS or email once the process is done.
